Introduction of wheelchair basketball into the borough delivered by Lewisham Thunder Basketball club
South London Community Partnership CIC provides children and young people with the opportunity to excel in basketball. We want to encourage, explore, promote and develop wheelchair basketball both as a recreational and competitive sport from the grass-roots to elite level.
We have set up a new wheelchair basketball team in the London Borough of Lewisham providing opportunities for wheelchair bound young people from the ages of 9+ to participate in team sport, where there is currently no provision. Wheelchair Basketball is one of the most spectacular and popular sports of the Paralympics Games.
It is distinguished for its unique style, the quick flow of the game and the endless action with constant attacks to the basket and “man to man” defence. For now, the plan is about spreading the good word of wheelchair basketball to gain interest. More importantly, it also might give teenagers with disabilities a new outlook toward their futures on and off the court.
Session Times:
Every Saturday at Forest Hill School
